2 Chronicles 33:13-16
"And in his distress, Manasseh sought the favor of the LORD his God and earnestly humbled himself before the God of his fathers. And when he prayed to Him, the LORD received his plea and heard his petition; so He brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD is God.
After this, Manasseh rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David from west of Gihon in the valley to the entrance of the Fish Gate, and he brought it around the hill of Ophel and heightened it considerably. He also stationed military commanders in all the fortified cities of Judah.
He removed the foreign gods and the idol from the house of the LORD, along with all the altars he had built on the temple mount and in Jerusalem, and he dumped them outside the city. Then he restored the altar of the LORD and sacrificed peace offerings and thank offerings on it, and he told Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel."
There has only been one perfect hero in this world. Every other hero has moments of tarnishing villainy. Villains also have moments of glorious heroism. It isn't clear what category a person will end up in by witnessing even a long string of wicked or righteous behavior. Hold out hope for the villains, and expect your heroes to let you down. Only Yeshua is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

I am so thankful to live where we live.
Yesterday afternoon I did my big grocery shopping trip and then we went to my brother's house for dinner, so it was late by the time we arrived home. We were tired and after unloading the children, I told James I figured the temperature was good enough to leave all the groceries in the car (except for the freezer stuff) so we left them there and went to bed.
This morning, as I started unloading groceries, it occurred to me that in spite of all the problems we're facing ... inflation, food shortages, rising crime, etc ... I had just left about $350 worth of groceries sitting in my driveway, in my unlocked SUV overnight!
In hindsight, I'd probably lock the car next time just in case. But the fact that my reaction was to leave them without having any concern about it, speaks to the safety and security that we feel regarding our community. I'm thankful to be in a situation where we have the ability to get a carload of groceries and that we don't feel ...
